Co-Curricular Section – Disaster Management
In alignment with the school’s ongoing efforts to instil practical awareness and readiness among students, Education Mentors Academy successfully conducted an Earthquake Mock Drill as part of its Disaster Management Co-Curricular Activities. The activity was meticulously planned and executed under the able guidance of Social Studies teacher Ms. Srashti Gupta.
The mock drill aimed at educating students about the correct procedures to follow during an earthquake and ensuring they are equipped with the presence of mind and quick response skills needed during such emergencies. The exercise simulated real-life earthquake conditions, emphasizing the “Drop, Cover, and Hold” protocol as advised by national disaster response agencies.Prior to the drill, Ms. Srashti Gupta briefed students and staff about earthquake safety measures, emergency exits, evacuation procedures, and first-response actions.
She also emphasized the importance of remaining calm and coordinated during a disaster situation. At the sound of the mock siren, students immediately took protective positions under desks and tables, covering their heads and necks. This was followed by a swift and disciplined evacuation to the designated open assembly area.
The drill was closely monitored by a team of teachers and safety volunteers, who observed the responses and provided feedback for improvement. The successful execution of the Earthquake Mock Drill reinforced the school’s commitment to holistic education — not only focusing on academic excellence but also on life skills and safety preparedness. The initiative was well-received by parents and staff alike and served as a vital step in building a safety-first mindset among students.
