History of Chess

Chess was originally known as Chaturanga and began in India during the Gupta Empire. The pieces represented parts of the Indian army—infantry, cavalry, elephants, and chariots—which later evolved into pawns, knights, bishops, and rooks.

From India, the game spread to Persia, where it became known as Shatranj. Over time, it spread across the world and became the modern chess we know today.

Conclusion

Chess is not just a game, it is a journey of intelligence and strategy. Every student should try playing chess to sharpen their mind and thinking skills.
